Virginia: Home Sweet Home?

Yeah - this whole post is me bragging about Dane so prepare!
Wednesday afternoon we got some BIG HUGE EXCITING NEWS!! The medical school that Dane interviewed for said that they would let him know by the 15th if him getting in was a yes, no, or maybe. So all day he was pretty much glued to his inbox and finally at 4:00 pm while he was staring at the empty inbox an E-mail from Virginia popped up and I think you can guess what it said!!! DANE IS GOING TO BE A DOCTOR!!!!! When he finally got it he sang, danced, jumped on the bed, and of course practiced his new signature with an "M.D" at the end for about 2 hours haha. But I still consider it to be a pretty mellow reaction after the last 5 years that Dane has spent working his tail off to get in to school. Anything I could say to prove how hard of a worker he is would be an understatement so just trust me. But I am sooooo proud of him and happy for both of us haha!! We both know that we have been majorly blessed in a lot of different ways and we're soooo grateful!!!!!

I'm a Quilter!

With A LOT of help from my mom (she had to tell me what to do every step of the way), I made Beck a quilt! If your wondering who Beck is since I haven't made a formal blog announcement (which is the only way to really set things in stone) we're naming our little guy Beck Dane.
And I think I've found myself a new hobby cause I loved making this quilt- all I need is a sewing machine and money to buy fabric - so I guess I have a hobby waiting for me in about 15 years when we hopefully start making money! After finishing this quilt though, I will not only be shocked I will be mad if he comes out a girl!

Washington DC

Last week we took our last vacation as a childless couple to Washington DC. Dane had an interview at a school in Virginia so we called my parents to come along and made a vacation out of it. I LOVED it out there its SO PRETTY! It's a good thing that we have our Utah mountains because Virginia's forest lined roads made Utah look gross.
We saw all of the major highlights in DC Lincoln, Jefferson, Capital, White House, Smithsonian, Mt Vernon and a lot of other things of course but I think that all 4 of us were most impressed by the Arlington Cemetery it was unbelievable, one of the coolest parts was the tomb of the unknown soldiers where you see the guards that guard the tomb 24 hours a day.

We also went to see the temple and it is my new favorite one...it felt so wierd, we just turned of a little road and it looked like we were driving up the canyon and all the sudden the temple pops up, it was SO PRETTY!

The last day we drove out to take Dane to his interview and that place was not quite as impressive as the rest of the vacation had been...I was worried to let him out of the car unarmed and I made a special effort to not make eye contact with anybody all morning because it was in the SCARY part of town, good thing I have a tough husband because if it was me I would have called a cop to escort me from my car to the building. Anyways it was an awesome trip and we had tons of fun together, we were glad my mom and dad came with us...not just so we had somebody to take our picture - we always have a ton of fun together!

Labor Day Weekend

Labor day weekend was the perfect way to wrap up our summer, but after all that fun it's going to make it extra hard for Dane to go back to his life as a student. We kicked off the weekend by going to Macaroni Grill with our friends Rhett and Jessie and as I've said before we are really good at picking our friends, not only do we spend the whole time laughing when we hang out with them but Rhett also has some pretty good hookups...so that night he got us free dessert, and I am not talking about a little piece of cake...they brought us out a tray with every single dessert that they have. The longest 30 seconds of my life was waiting for them to take that picture before we could dig in

Saturday we celebrated Brandon's (and Tessa's) birthday by going boating without Brandon because he had to work. My mom's sister and her family took us out on their boat which was of course good times!! Being an overly cautious pregnant girl put a bit of a damper on what I dared do...I am now a part of the mothers group, I went on the tube with my mom and my aunt and I am embarrassed to admit that I was the one telling them to slow down. I am usually the craziest toughest one out there! jk

After we went boating we went up Heber canyon with Mandi, Scott, Bridget, and Easton to stay overnight at a cabin. It was the first time we have sat around a camp fire in like 3 years! We had a very fun time just hanging out together pigging out and sitting around the fire (that Mandi had to teach the boys how to make). It had been awhile since we had all hung out together so it was extra nice to get together

Monday we went mini-golfing with the fam and my mom put us all into shock by kicking our butts...not by just a little bit...it was a huge win. By the last half of the course Dane would just shake his head in disgust every time she would go because she was playing out of her mind! We're still trying to figure out if that really did happen. So these pictures are everybody holding up their mini-golf ranking....yes that is my mom holding up 1 finger and Dane holding up 2

Fiesta Days

Hands down one of the best parts of summer is Fiesta Days in Spanish Fork on the 24th of July. We always kick off Fiesta Days by getting together with all of my mom's side of the family and going to the rodeo together...which is by the way the best activity of all!! The other things we never miss are the SF parade (which used to be alot more exciting when it was acceptable to chase after all of the candy that they throw), eating big fatty scones for dinner at the park (and kettle corn for mom), the huge family reunion with my dad's side of the family (I usually know about 5% of the people there), and fireworks (Dane's favorite part of the 24th). Dane has two obsessions in this world....me and fireworks, jk. But seriously he is a firework freak!! We did fireworks at my mom and dad's house and he was getting frustrated because the wind was blowing a little (duh, we were in SF) but the fireworks weren't reaching their potential height because of the wind so Dane wasn't able to fully enjoy them because he was so busy testing out shields for the fireworks from the wind (it ended up being a huge card table that he put in the middle of the road) haha lucky for him the wind let up for the best fireworks that he saved for the end. I love that Dane gets so excited over stuff like that though it makes it so much more fun.

Disneyland...take 6

When me and Dane met I think that the biggest selling point of all to me was his obsession with Disneyland. I think that if Dane ever had to choose between me or Mickey Mouse I would be a single women faster than you could even say Mickey Mouse. But lucky for both of us Disneyland just so happens to be my favorite vacation spot too (and I am not just saying that because Dane loves it, it's always been that way) So we decided that since we hadn't been there in about 6 months it was about time to get our butts back there!! So for the 6th time since we've been married (lets not forget our trip to Disneyworld on top of it) we took a visit to the Happiest Place On Earth.
We of course had the best time ever!! The only big let down was that because of being pregnant I couldn't go on some of the best rides, not that Disneyland is all about the big scary rides...but it KILLED me to missed Tower of Terror and Indiana Jones. And when I watched Dane walk towards the Tower of Terror without me those dang pregnancy emotions got the best of me and I didn't handle it too well hahaha how embarrassing I KNOW! I wasn't exagerating, I am officially a crazy person. But even if I was sane I think that I still would have reacted the same to that situation because it is a pretty big deal!!

The second day we went to the character breakfast and it just topped everything off...you can't beat eating mickey mouse shaped pancakes and waffles while feeling like your trapped inside a Disney movie because the characters are walking around everywhere! And Dane of course wanted to make sure that I got his picture with every character that came to our table. But I think the biggest emotional high of the whole trip for me was when Mickey Mouse did not only personally wave to me in the parade, but he blew me a kiss and then pointed to me for at least 30 seconds as he danced away down the street hahaha what a trip!
